PART 1:
There are large papers posted around the room. Place your questions/comments on the paper that best fits  - 2 minutes
  1. Walk around the room and read the comments and questions - 5 minutes:
  2. Choose one paper to stand in front of -  1 minute
  3. With your group, discuss what has been written - 5 minutes
  4. Choose a spokesperson from your group to report on what the group discussed - 5 minutes to go around the roome

PART 2 :
There are 2 corners of the room - In one corner there is a card that says  "I believe"...
In the other corner of the room, there is  a card that says "I don't believe..."
  • If you believe that culture jamming is an  effective means of political communication, stand in front of  "I Believe..."
  • If you don't  believe that culture jamming is an effective means of communication, stand in front of "I Don't Believe..."
  • Divide into groups of 3 or 4. 
  • Discuss what you believe and use evidence to back up your thinking
  • Choose spokesperson for the group.

Task 2 -  All Politics is Personal
Inspiration - Mind maps  - 30 minutes


In your journal, on a double page, make a mind map of all the political and social issues that affect you and that you care about. The pages should be completely filled with text and images

  • Work quickly and freely. Don't over think. Let your ideas flow into one another. 
  • Draw lines to connect  ideas to one another
  • Use text and quick sketches  (30 minutes)
  • Pass your journals around. Use sticky notes to comment on one another's journals (10 Mins)
  • In your group discuss ideas for what you might issues you might like to make

Task 3 Summative Criteria B, Criteria C
Planning your Artwork


From your  mindmap, our class discussions and your prior learning, choose two  contemporary political or social issue that you want to focus on in your artwork. 
  1. In your journal create 4 different sketches for each idea. Your final piece can be in  the medium of your choice and either 2d or 3d. 
  2. Your Sketches can be black and white, but should be annotated.
Once you choose your final idea: 
  • Make a page with technique  testing
  • Make a page with material testing
  • Make a page with color testing
  • Explain why the medium you  have chosen is appropriate to convey the message in your piece
